Kimi Raikkonen crashed today near the end of the SS7 stage of the Mexican rally. According to the WRC, the accident happened on a section “littered with hairpin corners.”

Kimi Räikkönen has been able to restart the Arctic Rally after going off and colliding with a tree this morning. Although organisers had considered a special dispensation to allow the Finn to rejoin, he and co-driver Kaj Lindstrom were able to recover with the help of spectators.

Jean Sage, the man who ran the Renault team when it first moved into Formula One, has passed away at the age of 68. The Frenchman, previously a rally co-driver as well as a racer himself in Formula 3 and sports cars, led the diamond marque into F1 in the late 1970s.
